Do not wear flat shoes at all

Started horseback riding for fun and finding it uncomfortable and unenjoyable? Well, if this is the case(because horseback riding can never be boring or exhausting), it's time to pay attention to your clothing.
Slipping into a proper horseback riding avatar is important not just to look rightly dressed but also to remain comfortable. Horseback riding is a butt-kicking workout, so finding the right clothing and shoes is mandatory. Before you hit the trail, invest in some horseback riding-friendly clothes. Not sure, what to look for? How the shirts, pants, and shoes should be? Rest assured, as we are going to discuss these in detail below.
Consider long pants, avoid shorts
You do not necessarily have to wear exceptionally long pants for horseback riding but the pants or jeans should be long enough to prevent chafing, pinching, and discomfort. Longer pants would make the ride safer and comfortable. Wearing shorts for horseback riding would lead to "saddle burns". So if you want your clothing not to restrict your movement and performance, say no to shorts at least for horse riding(even if it's too hot for long jeans).
Do not wear flat shoes at all
As you have to keep your feet in the saddle, you need to invest in boots with heels so your feet don't get caught in stirrups. Besides saving you from a deadly fall, such boots would also help you in achieving the correct leg position, maintaining balance, and guarding your feet and toe. Try arranging high-end boots with heels for maximum comfort and optimal performance.
Choose well-fitted shirts
Loose and baggy shirts may look good but they are just not right for the said purpose. You have the freedom to choose between long and short sleeves but the sleeves should also be well-fitted. The loose and baggy shirts get tangled in the horse equipment and cause trouble or discomfort. If well-fitted shirts are not your thing, you can consider wearing golf or polo shirts for horseback riding as well.
Avoid jackets if you can
Dress up for horseback riding as if you are going for an intense workout, keep the clothing as minimum as possible. If it's winter, you can not avoid jackets, choose a jacket that would not restrict your movement. If a jacket can be avoided, jeans, tee, polo, or golf shirts are enough for a comfortable horseback ride.
Wear helmet
Wear a helmet if you are not experienced enough to ride a horse like a pro. Wearing a helmet would save you from unforeseen events to a great extent. If you can not afford a specific horseback riding helmet, try arranging a bike helmet as something is better than nothing, right?
Moreover, take a deep breath, keep yourself hydrated, follow the instructions carefully, start slow, and enjoy riding.
In brief, being in the right avatar is important for safe and comfortable horseback riding. Prefer long pants, well-fitted shirts, avoid jackets, wear a specific horseback riding helmet, let and close-toed boots with heels.
